Protection of Telecom Infrastructure, a collective responsibility-NCC


The Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity at Nigeria Communication Commission, Engr. Bako Wakil, says, protection of telecom infrastructure for improved quality of service, as the role of residents


Engineer Wakili made the disclosure while making his presentation at the 2nd edition of the village square dialogue Danbatta local Government area of Kano State


He pointed out that, the role of communities towards protecting telecom infrastructure, includes; Allowing the installation of equipment and maintenance or repairs on sites by technical staff of service providers for quality Telecoms service delivery and do not extort money from them.


Engineer Bako maintains that, members of communities should Guard against destruction of Telecoms infrastructure, through prompt notification of service providers on any ongoing road construction activities by companies or government agencies to avoid service disruption or interference in service.


Turning to the benefits of Telecom infrastructure, Engineer Bako, said, Information technology and the ability to connect and communicate is fundamental to human existence. Telecoms helps in improving businesses, governments, communities, and families to share information through seamless connections


He highlighted that Technological advance have assisted people have access to learning opportunities outside of traditional schooling. Today, you simply need a computer, smartphone, and the internet to conduct a search, read a tutorial, or watch a how-to video on virtually any subject matter.


On the effects of Vandalization of Telecom infrastructure, the Director told the gathering that, such actin reduces coverage area leading to dead spots on the network which result in poor Quality of Service and Quality of Experience .Another negative effect of telecom infrastructure according to him, discourages investors from investing in Nigeria



his part, the Zonal Comptroller North East, North zone of Nigeria Communication Commission, Alhaji Shu’aibu Suwade, said the essence of the gathering, was to interact with Nigeria Telecom consumers to sensitize them on need to protect telecom infrastructure

Shu’aibu Suwade, maintains that at the end the out fit intends to achieve a well-informed consumer that is aware of his right as well as obligation


Suwade, used the medium in congratulating Kano state Communities for not witnessing Telecommunication infrastructure vandalization as a result of the role consumers are playing towards ensuring achieving the set goals



The zonal Comptroller emphasize that, the event was aimed to honors the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Professor Umar Garba Dambatta over the giant strides he makes in the area of Telecoms development since his inception as the head of the Agency
