New officials were elected to steer the affairs of ARTV's chapel of NUJ during the next three years

Those elected as announced by the Returning Officer, Isyaku lbrahim, comprise Abubakar Shehu Kwaru Chairman, Abdullahi Hassan vice Chairman, Ali Sidi Sharifai Secretary, Mubarak Abubakar Isma"il Financial Secretary, Zulfat Abubakar Rano Auditor, Farida Umar Abdu Treasurer and Naziru Idris Ya'u Assistant Secretary

While speaking, the Executive officer of the outfit, Hajiya Sa'a Ibrahim,expressed joy over the orderly conduct of the event

Hajiya Sa'a lbrahim,who described the election of two females to occupy offices in the union as a watershed ,decried how in some instances unionists, were so confrontational an act she

made mentioned as unwanted as according to her, the two supposed to be partners in progress

She however vowed to accord the new executives support in order to succeed

In his speech, the chairman of the outfit in Kano, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim congratulated the new officials over their victory charging them to work as a team so as to prove detractors wrong

He used the occasion to reechoed the need for working journalists to guard against being used by perceived enemies to settle political scores as according to him their image is at stake

He described a good journalist as the one who abide by the norms and ethics of the profession not pecuniary reward

While speaking, the new chairman, Abubakar Shehu Kwaru who was overwhelmed,thanked fellow comrades for the confidence reposed in him vowing not to disappoint

Abubakar Kwaru, however drew the attention of one and all on the need to call him to order whenever he deviated as he is not a super human being

The chairman, underscored the need for synergy with other unions as well as the Management with a view to boosting the well-being of staffers
