HER ARCHIEVEMENT AS DIRECTOR GENERAL, ARTV, KANO

On assumption of leadership of Abubakar Rimi Television in January, 2014, the station was under the Management Committee under the Chairmanship of Late Garba Magaji Director Admin and General Services (DAGS). The Station was in deplorable condition operating less than six hours in a day (from 5:30pm to 10:00pm) as at that time. Having gone through the situation, a plan of action was drawn immediately by reviewing the whole system to see possibilities of improving the transmission hours. She took step to restore weekend morning transmission which was suspended before. After succeeding with the above, hours of the transmission was increased to the level of operating/transmitting 24hrs. This was done by upgrading the station with high technical digital equipment. When She took over the running of the station the editing room has only one functional computer and now have been renovated and decorated with six functional computers, set of speakers, UPS and one capturing machine for smooth working activities in the station. Also before now the office has only two functional studios (i.e Studio A and B) but now additional studio has built and renovated Studio B. Both Studios are well equipped with modern machines. In order to sustain the rigours of operating 24hrs service, sixty programs mainly public service cutting across various walks of life and human endeavors such as Education, Health, Agriculture, Commerce, Science & Technology, Social Welfare, Women and Children, Religion, Culture and above all Government promotional programs were introduced. Our Programs have gone competing with others across the public and the productions have risen to 85% local content with minimal repeats. Live coverages of special events and the proceedings of the State House of Assembly play a significant roles in our daily presentation. During the election period of election, the station is one of the reliable source that people have faith in watching and listening as we cover the elections live until the announcement of final result. Thanks to our special efforts and intervention. The corporation was able to secure a new OB Van for its outside broadcast under her Administration.

RECRUITMENT AND FORMALIZATION OF NEWLY EMPLOYED STAFF

During our five years in office, we recruited and formalized 59 newly employed staff. This is very important considering the fact that the process could have been hijacked and those that served the station on casual basis will have missed out.

STAFF CLINIC

Due to our concern to the welfare of the staff we initiated and executed a staff clinic to take care of immediate health need of the staff. In order to create a good understanding and harmony between the station and its neighbours the clinical services was extended to the neighbours. Research by a Newspare that done a Feature article on the Clinic reaveled that on the average a total number of about 1000 people access services on a monthly basis since the clinic started operation.

MOTOR VEHICLES

The Corporation was having serious problems with motor vehicles and only few of them are working, due to her concerted effort the new vehicles were purchased and state Government later provided more to the station. Presently the station has: Three (3) Hummer Bus, Three (3) Hilux,

Two Gulf Saloon, One Mitsubishi Bus and Sharon.

FILM VILLAGE

In order to improve the revenue generation of the station the Village was created and the Film industry in Kano and Nigeria make use of the facilities for a fee.

DIGITAL MIGRATION

Before Our administration, the broadcasting was purely analog, but between the year 2015 to 2019 we a 95% digital, almost all our equipment are digital. The only analog process we are using in transmitter is for terrestrial or local user. We also transmit fully digital through three platforms which are: Nigcomsat, Startimes and Live Streaming. The migration to digital transmission began with the purchase of TriCaster which converts analog to digital, then later fully digital TriCasters, Scheduler Automation List, Editing Machines, Streaming equipment were all installed for total conversion to digital product and transmitters. The transmitter of Hotoro and Tudun Wada were replaced with new digital ready ones. These are part of the progress experience during our tenure.

TUDUN WADA SUB STATION

This sub station established in 2008 The Government at that time put in place equipment worth Millions of Naira. The station was later abandoned and was never put to use. This gave way for thieves to have a field day stealing everything of value. It is against this background that the station was restored. The DG with the support of His Excellency the Governor of Kano State Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje upgraded the station to a functional one now with the capacity to operate 24hrs.
